Meet Erik W. Lindberg
Erik W. Lindberg is a highly accomplished attorney specializing in construction, commercial real estate, and corporate law. With two decades of professional experience, Erik has predominantly served as in-house counsel, representing construction companies across the United States. Over the course of his career, he has successfully negotiated and reviewed billions of dollars of contracts and provided strategic advice across all phases of construction projects.
Erik’s expertise spans large, complex construction projects with a focus on infrastructure and renewable initiatives. A significant part of Erik’s practice involves representing contractors performing work for Department of Transportation projects and rail, renewable energy, environmental remediation, and federal projects. His mastery lies in negotiating large complex projects, engineering, construction, and procurement (EPC) agreements, reviewing public bid packages, communicating compliance obligations to clients and teams, and assisting in transferring risk during the procurement process. He is known for turning complex problems into simple and actionable solutions.
Erik takes a business approach to legal challenges. He is adept at understanding people and their motivations, a skill he leverages to get the deal done. Beyond problem-solving, Erik relishes the challenge of negotiating complex contracts, showcasing a skill and a genuine passion for his work. His unique ability to shepherd real estate development projects from idea to fruition comes from working for a development company and personally investing in real estate projects.
A Miami University Business School and St. Louis School of Law graduate, Erik is admitted to the Illinois Bar and The United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He’s a member of the Illinois and Winnebago Bar Associations.
At heart, Erik is an advocate and an entrepreneur. He finds joy in helping his clients build and succeed in their businesses, treating their concerns as if they were his own. Despite the inherent stress in legal matters, Erik brings a sense of fun and levity to every situation, endearing him to colleagues and clients alike.
Devoted to community service, Erik has held leadership roles within The Association of Corporate Counsel, including Chair of the Real Estate Network and Diversity Co-Chair. He has contributed to the Rockford Corridor Improvement initiative, aiming to alleviate the impact of neighborhood blight on local governments. He is a co-founder of The Heart Strong Collective, a non-profit supporting families navigating the challenges of raising children with complex illnesses. He loves volunteering his time as a youth football coach with Rockford Titans, which takes him back to the good days of playing college football.
